Poker Runs
September 12th, 2018 by Adella Beatty

A poker run is basically a treasure hunt where players visit several destinations across a town or city and collect a poker card from each one. The aim of the game isn’t to complete the run in the quickest time but to have the best poker hand once you have completed it. You can participate in them as a family or as a group of friends, ultimately, they are a fun way to get you all out together exploring your local area with the added bonus of the possibility of taking home a trophy or maybe even some prize money.

Why should I take part in a Poker Run?

Poker runs are often set up in order to raise money for charity. A small registration fee is often charged to any teams that wish to compete, with all monies from this fee going to the charity nominated by the organisers. This means that players can enjoy the fun of the day whilst also knowing that are helping out a good cause. Runs generally have 5 check-points and the route can take you anywhere across a city or town, from back roads with glorious views to hidden treasures within the city centre that you have never seen. Completing a poker run will certainly help you see your local area in a new light.

Poker Run Tips

One of the best strategies to help you perform well in a poker run is to make sure you have a bit of understanding about the game of poker and that you know a bit about what makes a good hand. You can always head onlineĀ if you need some help familiarizing yourself with the game. By doing this, you can assess how you are performing as you go through the game and have some understanding in regards to which cards you might be looking to draw to make the best hand.
