Pony Cars Other Than the Ford Mustang

While the Ford Mustang is seen as the most popular in the line of so-called “pony cars” that are available, there are indeed others which offer just as much style, sophistication and raw power. Let us have a brief examination of a few additional varieties and the benefits that they can provide the owner.

The Chevrolet Camaro

Known as one of the first muscle cars, the Camaro can trace its roots back to 1967 when this iconic variety first rolled off of the assembly line. Four different generations have been produced since its inception and the fifth generation was recently introduced in 2009. The Camaro can often be seen in racing movies and at car shows; its distinctive appearance is perhaps one of the most well known in the entire industry.

The Dodge Challenger

The Challenger was first seen as far back as 1958 and it is still making headlines today. Known for its very masculine appearance alongside a respectable amount of horsepower, this car could often be seen within street races. The third generation was made public in 2008 and it was intended to present a very real “challenge” to the Mustang and the Camaro.

The Firebird Trans Am

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was made popular by the television series Knight Rider which was a classic programme in the 1980s. A sleek appearance and the addition of a spoiler on later models were some of the highlights of this two-door convertible and thanks to such a large commercial presence, the Trans Am is considered to be one of the must-have cars for collectors. While this model enjoyed no less than three generations of production, the last vehicles were built in 2002.

These three pony cars are indeed alluring in their own unique ways. While the Mustang may have been the predecessor, there is no doubt that each and every one of these models have made lasting impressions upon the automobile industry.
